I have always saved up when I want something, never had a debt in my life and always paid upfront rather than buy on HP and for this reason I have a lousy credit rating too. I asked my bank and was told get a credit card then make some purchases and do not pay it off in full for a few months and it will improve my rating once I do pay it off??? Er, but you need a credit rating ot get a credit card in the first place... Logic? Morals? Pride? Welcome to the UK and they wonder how people are in such debts? Instead I got a Blackberry from Freegle and a pay as you go sim from the pundshop, just as good and a fraction of the cost ;) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5595377920075277072.post-40086454573533046492013-02-28T17:38:22.835+00:002013-02-28T17:38:22.835+00:00We had a similar situation, where by a computer gl...We had a similar situation, where by a computer glitch failed to remove a bad credit mark from my husbands file due to an administrative error. Sorry but labyrinthine is the only way to go. Grab your string, tie it to your door handle by making copies of every letter you send, every phone call you make (get the name of the person, take date and time and make sure you log it). You may well need to meet your bank manager (if you can winkle him/her from out of the pit they hide in) and get them to verify that you have an acoount and that this is the address. <br />It took us about 6 months to clear Tim but it can be done. I think the most important part of this was to be a apanner in the machine and make it clear that complications and obscurities would not beat us down. He just never had any rental agreement, utilities, etc. in his name before, and no credit cards. He did however have a job that paid enough for the rent. They told him it would have been okay if he'd had bad credit, but impossible to rent to him with no credit. How that makes any sense at all is beyond me. You are penalized now for not going into debt. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
