Made my annual pilgrimage to see the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance. As ever, fortune rewards those prepared to wait all day for the final dance, which is when the wooji strikes, and the dancers are carried as if it is the horns dancing them.
The finest English Voodoo.

ReplyDeletePlease email me at Julian@5hplus.com and I'll go into more detail. Thanks, I learned a lot.

Hi Andy, I'm a big fan of Shroom and Telling the Bees (and just read a great article of yours about fairy beliefs in the eco movement), and had a quick question for you if you don't mind.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning a trip to England sometime in the next couple years, and I either wanted to go in September and see the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance (which I've been fascinated with for many years), or go in May and see some May Day morris dancing and such somewhere. Any personal recommendation on which would be the most rewarding? I may only get there once, and want to make it count. Also, if you have any other suggestions for a folklore buff, I'd be interested. Thank you!
